Biking
Downhill Mountain Biking Mt. Crested Butte serves as a glorious playground for mountain bikers in the summer! Take the chairlift or a van up to the top of the mountain and cruise down on a 2-wheel or 4-wheel mountain bike. Choose to explore wide and easy trails, or head out on the single-track and learn to negotiate more challenging terrain, such as rock piles and log jams. We’ll focus on increased strength and self-confidence along with establishing good riding technique.

Handcycling On Road Explore scenic Rocky Mountain highways and quieter back roads on a high-tech bicycle that is propelled entirely by arm strength. Ride alongside rivers and fields of wildflowers on gentle rolling terrain, or crank up the heat on a challenging climb. Go out for a few hours, or spend the entire day riding; we’ll take care of all the logistics!
Off Road Crested Butte offers unlimited opportunities for novice to expert off-road handcyclers to hone their trail-riding skills. We supply all the gear, including state-of-the-art handcycles from One-off Titanium. These bikes boast excellent maneuverability, power and stability, which all add up to a sweet ride!

Rock Climbing
Experience the thrill of scaling a granite wall or choose to wrap your mind around a classic bouldering problem through our rock climbing program. We’ll head out to the local’s favorite climbing spot at Hartman’s Rocks, and our seasoned guides will provide you with the skills you need to achieve success in this popular sport. Safety, etiquette, knots, belaying, rappelling and climbing technique, such as face and crack climbing, smearing, crimping and hand jams will be covered. We’ll focus on increasing balance, strength and agility, and improved problem-solving skills. This summer we are excited to offer a new adaptive climbing harness for students with good upper body strength.

Challenge Course
ASC’s challenge course is a fun way for you to push perceived limitations in a safe and controlled environment. Our course consists of low and high elements constructed of rope, cables, wood, and trees. The series of 'challenges' enhance teamwork, awareness, trust and team-building and have applications to many different groups or individuals. You do not need to possess special skills or own special equipment to participate, which makes the course a very equalizing experience.

Boating
Whitewater Rafting One-Day Few things beat the exhilaration felt after a day of whitewater rafting on the nearby Taylor River. Take it nice and easy on Class II water, or ride some rockin' Class III rapids! We'll learn how to paddle, 'eddy out' and maneuver around obstacles in a boat. Multi-Day Truly get away from it all by joining us for a memorable two to three day overnight rafting/camping trip on the lower Gunnison River. Each day we'll navigate rafts and canoes through gorgeous river canyons, where we're sure to spot local wildlife, such as desert bighorn sheep, deer and elk. After a full day of paddling, we'll set up camp, fill our bellies with a hot meal and wind down for the evening. The following day(s) find us doing more of the same.

Canoeing Paddle the day away on stunning Lake Irwin or expansive Blue Mesa Reservoir in Gunnison. Canoeing is great exercise and a fantastic way to build teamwork. We’ll cover gear and paddling techniques in one and two person boats.
Open Water Kayaking Explore the shoreline of Blue Mesa Reservoir or bliss-out the middle of a high alpine lake in a one or two person inflatable or hard shell open-kayak. We provide the gear and instruction; all you need to do is come with a willingness to learn and have fun!

Hiking
Crested Butte is a hiker’s paradise just begging to be explored. In addition to abundant trails right here in town, we have easy access to three spectacular nearby wilderness areas: Raggeds Wilderness, Maroon Bells Wilderness and West Elk Wilderness. Hike to a hidden waterfall, bag the peak of Mt. Crested Butte or spend a morning identifying wildflowers – the choice is yours! We also offer natural history tours and environmental education activities upon request.

Horseback Riding Program
Experience arena and trail riding through the ASC's new horse program. Our arena-based program includes a ranch orientation and instruction on grooming, tacking and arena riding. Trail riding takes us outside the arena into the natural environment for a half or full day, or overnight. The ASC is offering a limited horse program this summer; please contact us for more information.
